Starvin'

A little something you might not have known about me. I share a common trait with the hippopotamus. You're asking yourself "A hippo? What in the heck could an eight month old lab and a hippo have in common?" Well, if you've ever met me you know that just like the hippo you don't get in between me and the water because you'll lose everytime. Fortunately for you though injuries sustained from me won't be as serious as a hippopotamus.
It's not only water that I'm so passionate about. Other things include new people, frisbees, peanut butter kongs, and any small animal or rodent. Yesterday Jennifer made the mistake and got in the way of me and a squirrel and unfortunately paid the price and it cost her a fair amount of blood. She nicked her index finger on the door track after I lunged for what I hoped to be a new friend. It's hard for me to apologize for something she should have known, but lessons are sometimes learned the hard way. Nobody apologized to me when I had to wait in my crate with no breakfast while Matt drove her to the E.R.
Can you believe I didn't get to eat until after 9:00 am?!! I mean come on that's the real travesty. Any other dog would of held a grudge for being treated like that. Not me though. Lucky for you our friendship can be reclaimed with a trip to the beach or a toss of the frisbee. Still waiting for that trip to the beach.

Sticks and Frisbees

Had an excellent day cooling off at Three Tree yesterday and boy-o-boy I needed it. I haven't stopped pantin' since Thursday and I wasn't sure how much more I could take. Too hot for frisbee, walks, or anything else for that matter. What I needed was some relief and it needed to be water. Relief from the heat doesn't come any better than from Three Tree Point.
It was nice to see cousins Elsie and JakDog. Still can't catch 'em, but I'll never stop trying. Elsie and I were fetching sticks and logs while little JakDog greeted us on the beach. Can't wait to see them again.
Today is for recovery and it feels a little cooler. I long for the days of overcast and 65 degrees. I say that now, but in January and February this past weekend will be considered divine.

Charley

HOT

It hit 100 degrees in O-Town yesterday and I can't stop pantin'. That's hot!! Went down to the beach near Evergreen this morning to cool off. Word on the street is we're headed up to Three Tree tomorrow. Can't wait. Tell you about it later.

Stay Cool

Take me to your leader

Ocean Size

Today began like any other Saturday (Jennifer being home instead of working, Matt sleeping in late as usual) then out of nowhere Auntie Rebecca shows up at the door. What's the occasion I ask myself? Next thing I know we all jump in the car and we're off. When I woke up from my car nap all I saw for miles around was my favorite thing in this whole doggy world, water. And not just a little water, it was everywhere. The sky was blue, the waves were awesome, and a frisbee being thrown over and over again. That was my Saturday at Pacific Beach.

See you at the beach

No comb over needed

Good news everybody. Fur on my mysteriously shaved belly is growing back fast. I feel bad for Matt though, he seems to mention it every time I roll over. I think he might be jealous of my rapid fur rejuvenation. Serves him right. That's what he gets for dropping me off at the vet overnight a few weeks ago. Posted by Picasa

Canine dispatch from dreamy town

As I doze in and out of consciousness, memories of my time spent at Three Tree Point make me feel all warm and fuzzy. They really need to rename that place Doggy Heaven. Sticks, balls, oranges, and rocks tossed into the drink for my sister and I to retrieve until we're so tired it's too hard to stand. I envy those other dogs who are able to live in such a wonderful place.
With Gran Davey on the south side of the point and Gramma Steele on the north, I need more than just one day to satisfy my intense appetite for sun, surf, and sand. My eyelids are getting heavy again and I'm sure I'll need at least one more day of recovery so I'll leave you with this,
Long Live Three Tree Point!

Your trusty water loving pal,
Charley Dog

5 reasons why I love my big sister
  • I don't annoy her, like I do to cousin Elsie
  • I can catch her, unlike cousin Jak
  • She shares
  • She always lets me win
  • She's my best friend

Fourth of July, YO!

Huge day today. My sister Bonnie and I were pretty much inseparable. I'm going on twelve hours without a nap so I'll have to tell you about it later. Maybe tomorrow night... Possibly Thursday..... Friday at the latest.
